Ĺaying down and taking up

We all know that communication is a very important “tool” in our relationship between God and us, but also between us and other people. The communication between us and God is called prayer, but if you don’t know the important practical meaning of laying down evil things like stealing, lying, bitterness, anger, evil speaking and a corrupt way of talking to or about others, and then to take up good things like stop stealing, stop lying and undertaking to deal with your bitterness, anger and corrupt way of speaking to and about others. Your payers are all for nothing. You must learn to speak about things that will edify or uplift the next person rather than to be ill-mannered or being degrading. If you pray to God it isn’t just an opportunity to confess your own sins, but it also gives God the opportunity to “talk”, through the Holy Spirit, to you, bringing to your attention all the things you need to lay down.

On the other hand, God also gave us the incredible big gift of being able to stand in the gap for others. To pray or intercede for others means you ask God to meet their needs, but we can’t stand in that gap for others if our own lives are a mess. And you can’t lay old things down or take new things up in your life if there are still things like unforgiveness inside your heart. We did desIf you nurse unforgiveness in your heart, you risk the chance to keep feeling depressed, unfulfilling, empty and you will forever feel as if you are in chains. You must let go, put every thought or situation in God’s hands, and let Him do just what He is supposed to do without you interfering.

Remember God commands us to help each other, but in order to do that, you need to lay down old evil ways yourself. Ask yourself just what it is that makes you feel all those feelings of depression, unfulfilled or emptiness? Let me give you some causes which can be the reasons you feel that way.

Reasons you may expect to make you feel as if you are in chains and that’s why you should identify the areas in your life that need dealing with. Every single hindrance or situation in your life that prevents you from being able to lay down those evil things, in order for you not to feel free or from feeling pressed into a box or you can even feel like a puppet whose strings are being pulled by someone else. If your life is in order, and you are able to help yourself, only then you will be able to help others. Here are some questions that can help you or some causes that can be the reason for you feeling this way.

a) Do you experience this feeling because of what happened in the past (like rejection etc)?
b) Do you feel this way because of your sinful nature? Maybe you are feeling shame because you struggle with lusts tendency (we have to at hear to the flesh).
c) As a result of parents that kept saying negative things to a child, normally
results in that when that child is a grown-up he/she doesn’ t believe they

You must do introspection and I know doing introspection and really being honest with yourself, is the hardest thing you’ll ever have to do, and believe me working through the issues will be even harder, but it’s necessary for you to even reach the point where you can lay down old things and take up new things. You need to work really honestly through those issues to become the whole person God intended you to be. He promises in His word that He has only good things in mind for us.

I want to share a fact with you that always comforts me: it’s the fact that God is always with you and me in our storms. God is there when you have to work through things and the most important, awesome fact is that He is just a prayer away, and God promises that He won’t ever break a bruised reed. That is very reassuring knowing our God loves us so much. Isn’t every one of us a bruised reed in some or other way?

Now that you have the reinsurance that God is always there to help you, why don’t you go ahead and ask for His help to work through your past. You have to make that choice if you want to be free? As soon as you are ready to work through your past, you can start feeling good about yourself and start helping others.
