Set Yourself Free From Bondage

Many of us can identify with the topic of feeling in BONDAGE. Why do you feel as if you are in bondage? or What makes you feel like it? Come in the habit to write down every time any situation or anyone makes you feel as if you are like a puppet to it or them, and it will be shocking to see how many times you are responsible for letting situations or listening to others, result in the feeling of bondage. Try to stay away from situations or anyone that makes you feel as if you are bound. I want to name some situations to set your mind in motion to find out what are the objects, people or situations which put you in such a state of feeling like you are bound. Remember it is only a few, there are many more:

1. By constantly worrying about your finances to work out and not focusing on Jesus, by doing that you put yourself into bondage – stop it because Jehovah Jireh is your ONLY provider (1 Sam 2:8; Matt 6:26) – give your “worries” to God.
2. Are you in a destructive relationship or marriage where you are abused either physically or emotionally or you can even be that person who is responsible for abusing your partner, it doesn’t matter what the scenario is – if you allow it or even do it yourself, you do put yourselves in bondage? Another big problem in our society is the way some parents set a bad example for their children raising them with a skewed image of themselves, which resolves in bad self-image (see one of the previous articles).
3. If you find yourself in a workplace that is full of negativity and jealousy and again if you allow it, you choose to be bound. In Efs 6:7 God commands you and me to do our work as if we work for God, therefore don’t let the negativity or jealousy get to you.
4. Peer pressure (group pressure) will also put bondage on you, because when you try so hard to impress others that you forget who you are in God.

As I said the above-mentioned situations are only a few so do introspection, find out just what or who put bonds on your life and set yourself free by giving everything to God.
