Understanding The Meaning Of The Cross
The cross not only has an important meaning for believers, but also for unbelievers. During the last couple of weeks, many people asked me about the meaning of the cross. If you don’t understand the importance of what Jesus Christ did for you on the cross, you are totally lost, and so many people do really have a misunderstanding about it.
One of these misunderstandings is people who think that there is a special reason why some people like it to physically go to a cross to pray. I can testify to that because l experienced this. In the town where I live there is a cross on a hill on the outskirts of town. We like to go and pray there because, it is quiet and in nature, we feel very near to our God, so there’s no specific reason, but I can ensure you the cross do has a powerful spiritual meaning. Although the cross is the symbol of Christianity, the cross is also the starting point of any believer’s spiritual journey. O this simple design also means so much more than just a symbol or the beginning of your spiritual journey. It carries the message of love… God’s unconditional love. You see God knew that we couldn’t save ourselves, so He sends Jesus HIS ONLY SON to die for us. Just think…. Jesus humbled Himself and came down from heaven to die for our sins. The cross also speaks of the finality of Jesus’ victory and the fact that He overcomes death and has victory over Satan and all his evil spirits. The cross also reminds us of the fulfillment of all the prophecies and promises already foretold by the prophets in the Old Testament.
You need to get BACK TO THE BASICS. If you accept the cross as your starting point, you need to understand what its meaning is. God took the first step at the cross by offering His Son as a blameless and perfect offer so that you may have inner joy and the HOPE that you have eternal life. A while ago the Holy Spirit revealed an explanation of the cross to me. It is basic and understandable, and that’s why I want to share it with you. An explanation of the cross that I thought was simple and easy to understand. The right arm symbolizes your future. A future that is now as white as snow. The left arm in turn symbolizes your past that was black and dark.
The arm pointing upwards symbolizes salvation. Your salvation can only come from above. The arm pointing downwards symbolizes victory. In fact, the whole arm in the middle divides the future and the past. He washed away your dark past with His blood and now your future is clean and you stand righteous before God.
